Remodeling an older Boise kitchen
Boise's older neighborhoods, like the North End, Bench and East End, have plenty of homes with small, closed-off kitchens. Remodels there often mean opening a wall, moving plumbing or upgrading electrical to modern code.
Older homes can hide surprises such as outdated wiring, uneven floors or old plumbing. A good remodeler builds a contingency into the budget and explains what might come up once walls are opened.
Newer homes and refresh projects
In West Boise and newer subdivisions, many kitchens have a good layout but dated finishes. A refresh with new countertops, backsplash, lighting and painted or refaced cabinets can change the look for far less than a full gut.
Islands are a common add-on when space allows, giving extra storage and seating.
Before you get a Boise estimate
- Decide whether you need a layout change or a finish update; it's the biggest cost driver.
- Ask who pulls permits for electrical, plumbing and structural work.
- Plan for living without a kitchen for several weeks on a full remodel.
- Ask about lead times for cabinets and countertops.
